Hi all, this is the 9th entry from Mr.Tee Kwee Siang! Instead of PhotoView360, he has tried out the rendering by using PhotoWorks since his SolidWorks 2009 cannot let him to put in the background as shown here. (For your information, photoview 360 in SolidWorks 2009 do not have the ability to input customized background but you can do that with PhotoView 2010! Whew~) Anyway, with Tan's skill, he still able to output a very nice rendered image! Let's give him a plause!

What Will "GREEN" Look like in our future

Rainy day! Is a nice and relaxing morning, by having a cup of coffee.

Suddenly I remember what Lau mention to us yesterday on Going Green and Sustainability during our meeting. Let’s search some information to share with you, why are we going green now and how can we help the world become more sustainable?

I was thinking, what will “Green” look like in our future? What will be the breakthroughs in technology be in our future that will make our world more sustainable?

I just read an article wrote by Criff at 3D Perspective. Criff mention that “Going Green” and “Sustainable” are common terms that have been used, and over-used. And we have seen the world making more of an effort to help with sustainable efforts. But where are the big breakthroughs in technology to help us become more sustainable? Dassault Systèmes believes one way to look into the future for a new sustainable solution is visualizing it…in 3D.

Criff post up a video message from Bruno Delahave to explain what Dassault Systèmes is doing to help the world become more sustainable and how to create products which do not hurt the planet.

The video share with us how the 3D creation tool able to calculate environmental impact of an object being create, and how the designer able to take the smart decision of the component of the material he create to redo the carbon foot print of his design……

Let’s watch the video

Twisty Bookshelf

Hi, Tyler here. Good day to everyone. Here is my second post, Twisties + Bookshelf~

Just last week, when i was eating for Twisties.. eat.. eat.. eat.. Suddenly, an idea prompt out in my mind. Why don't i make something boring twisted in shape? And afterward, i decided to use a simple shaped bookshelf as my model for twisting~

Inside SolidWorks, firstly, i model a bookshelf which is in a normal linear form. After that, i use the twisting feature to twist the bookshelf along its center axis.

Next, i had just played around with Photoview 360, and here are the rendering results~ Hehe, the book shelves ain't boring anymore~

Colour Series

Car-painted Series

Stylish Series

Perhaps, you may to twist on your existing designs.. and perhaps again that some surprisings will come out~ :)

Thank you & have a nice day ^^

3D Connexion in galaxy from Lim

This is the 2nd entry form Lim. In this photo, he has used a galaxy image file as the background. In order to make the 3D Connexion match with the background, he has also applied a highly reflective material to the surface of 3D Connexion. You can observe the galaxy enviroment is reflected from the curvature face. Looking forward to know who are the best winner of the real 3D Connexion and RM200 Cash!!!

Lame Joke: Why 3D CAD?

Today I designed an assembly with my 2D software, something like this:

I show to my manager and he like it; very much! Thumb up! he said. After looking awhile on my drawing, he asked: What will be the overall weight for this design?

Of course, to obtain the weight, we need a weight scale, digital type will be more accurate. I can't find any around, so i just use a typical type of weight scale.

"Wait awhile ya!" I responded to him. Immediately I'm try to obtain the weight of the design. Finally I got it! And my answer to him:

Boss! If I measure the design in my 19" LCD, the weight will be like 6.5KG! And you know what, it only weight 80 grams if I print it out with a Double A paper.

Swwt!~ @.@"

Moral of the joke: Please get a 3D CAD!!!

An assembly visualization tool color-codes parts based on their total environmental impact. Configuration support in the software also lets users compare multiple design iterations for sustainability concerns.
