SolidWorks Rx – System Maintenance

Have you experience your SolidWorks performance is getting slower after a period of time even though you are using a new hardware?

Yes, this is the common behavior. When you are using SolidWorks, it will generate some temporary files in your system. These files will remain in your system until you clean them manually. Feel troublesome? I have the solution here. (I won’t post this if I have no solution)

You can try the following in order to clean all the temporary files and perform system maintenance for your hardware:

Go to Start Menu > All Program > SolidWorks 2011 > SolidWorks Tools > SolidWorks Rx. In SolidWorks Rx window, select the System Maintenance tab.

SolidWorks Rx act as a diagnostics tool and it can help you to do a series of maintenance for your system, which include:

• Cleaning of :
- SolidWorks Backup folder
- Temporary folders
- Windows Temp folder
- Temporary internet files
- Temporary files in data folders (~ files)
• Checkdisk to check for disk errors
- Checkdisk will help to check file system errors and bad sectors on your hard disk.

• Windows Defragmenter
- Disk Defragmenter consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk, so that each occupies a single, contiguous space on the volume. As a result, your system can gain access to your files and folders and save new ones more efficiently. By consolidating your files and folders, Disk Defragmenter also consolidates the volume's free space, making it less likely that new files will be fragmented

p/s: after this post, I'm going to format my notebook. ^.^
